Mother's Day Celebration

This afternoon we had the wonderful opportunity to play our harps for a Mother's Day Tea in South Holland. We had so much fun meeting everyone. We had one little family who came early and stayed late . . . they clapped for every song we played. They were such an encouragement!

Harps in the Capital

Today was a test of faith . . . Mallory removed the ski boot keeping her ankle in place and wrapped her ankle in a tight ace wrap so that she could play the harp. We played in the Howlett Auditorium in Springfield. Very picturesque! It was fun to have many homeschool friends there in the audience. Everything went very well and we had so much fun playing the harp. Afterwards, we did a little sightseeing at Lincoln's tomb. A great day in Springfield!

A Broken Chord Isn't Always a Good Thing

Today was a little discouraging . . . Mallory jumped over a play toy in the backyard and landed on her foot wrong. A trip to the doctor and an x-ray revealed torn ligaments and a bone chip. Not good the day before a harp performance! You need your feet (and ankles) to press the harp pedals for key changes. I Thessalonians encourages us with "that which He calls us to, He is faithful to do it!" This was our prayer to the Lord for the next day . . . we were going to play our harps for Legislative Day in Springfield.

Tea for Two!

What a beautiful afternoon . . . the sun was shining, fluffy clouds, and a lodge nesteled in the woods! This was the setting for the harp and afternoon tea for the two of us. We were blessed with the opportunity to share our harp music with over 150 ladies brought together for High Tea at the Center. We met so many interesting ladies with hats of all types: the red hats, Irish hats, Dutch hats, and just plain beautiful "afternoon tea hats." Tea for two . . . and two for tea . . . just listen to the harmony!

Harps at the Kids Expo!

Today we played the harp for the Family Time Magazine's Kids Expo. Wow! We have never seen so many kids in one place. Over 3000 kids and their parents came through the Tinley Park Convention Center in the first hour! Another 2000 people after that! We started playing the harp at 8:30 a.m. by the fountain in the lobby. We didn't stop playing until 11:30 a.m. -- no breaks! We had many children and parents stop and listen to the harp music as well as ask about how we got started. It was fun. We played several Disney classics for the kids as well as many classics. What a great morning!

The Cross

Today we were up early to take our trusty harp to play for a Lenten Breakfast at a church in Chicago. The theme was "The Cross." We played all the hymns that had in the title "The Cross." A few of them were: "The Old Rugged Cross," "Down at The Cross," "In the Cross of Christ I Glory," "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," "At the Cross," "Beneath the Cross," and "Near the Cross." We told the stories behind each hymn writer as we played the harp. We were joined by our long-time pastor, Pastor Clem. He actually wrote the program for us. He has a gift for music and great theme presentations. He has written several other programs for us. We so enjoy presenting with him! There were 80 people in attendance from various churches. We made special book marks that had our theme verse on it, Galatians 6:14. They were very pretty with light purple organza ribbon tied at the bottom. We hope that those there were able to catch a greater glimpse of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

February 17, 2007 More Snow!

Today was another winter storm warning and guess what . . . we were scheduled to play the harp again at a dinner celebration for 200! We knew that this wouldn't be cancelled. Again . . . Harps to the rescue! Out in the snow and ice we went with our monstrous harp! Carefully and lovingly we transported it to the Orland Chateau. What a great time of playing the harp!
